Green Gate Family Farm is situated just on the edge of the hills that make up the Ozarks. We are about 1 hour 45 mins from Kansas City where our primary market is. Since the beginning of the operation, 10 years ago, we have been using organic practices. After three years of transition we have been certified for 7 years and are now Real Organic Project certified as of mid-2020.
Green Gate is highly diversified, not only in production, but in market outlets as well. We participate in the Brookside Farmers Market, the KC Food Hub, a year-round CSA and sell to various buyers such as restaurants, grocery stores, florists and schools. We grow 100s of varieties of fruits and vegetables, have a decent size bedding plant business, raise ducks, chickens, and geese for eggs, and we added cut flowers about 3 years ago. We have two high tunnels and one greenhouse, an orchard and several small fields where we grow year-round.
Green Gate Family Farm is looking not just for help on the farm, but workers that take an interest in how the farm is run. We want to share our farming practices and why we do the things we do. The farm is accepting volunteer and paid positions and we are willing to offer housing/room or board with paid apprenticeship labor.
