Morningside Blooms is a residential property located in south Kansas City. Of the 3.3 acres, I cultivate about 1/4 acre for cut flower production. My primary market is Brookside Farmer's Market and I also sell to event designers and florists throughout the week.
In addition to fresh flowers, I also dry flowers, conduct workshops, and sell growing supplies focused on cut flowers and regenerative farming. My land is hills, rocks, clay, and trees and I am in the fourth year of stewarding the soil and land. I grow in fields, hydroponically in the winter, and in 2 tunnels.
I am looking for help primarily in the growing and harvesting of cut flowers ideally with someone who is curious about the why behind how I farm and the unique needs of flower growers. Because of my small scale, most of the work is done by hand so physical capacity is critical.
Applicants should be consistent in showing up, on time for hours, able to stay off phone during hours, able to follow instructions, curious to learn, and a good communicator. Needless to say, you need to be ok with dirt, mud, bugs, bug bites, rain, heat, kneeling, walking hills, loading and pushing wheelbarrows and sweat. I’m looking for someone to help part-time primarily in the mornings since this is the best time for flowers.
If you're still interested, I look forward to meeting you!
