Pendleton’s Country Market is a diversified family farm, growing vegetables, bedding plants, cut flowers in Lawrence, KS. We offer Pick-Your-Own vegetables in season and have an open-air seasonal farm market. We sell at the Farmers Market at Clinton Parkway and the Lawrence Farmers Market during the growing season. We also have a 200 member CSA for our fresh produce. Flowers are sold on the farm, at the farmers markets, and through weddings and events.
This year, we are starting our 41st year of growing asparagus. We are still retooling our farm after we were hit by a tornado in May of 2019. At that time, we lost most of our infrastructure, including a machine shop, several storage sheds, the use of our home, a 40 x 100’ covered deck that was the center of our agritourism activities, and 5 of our 7 greenhouses. We’re continuing the cleanup, and are taking a critical look at the future, when replacing or adding crops, infrastructure, and activities at the farm. During the last two years of tornado cleanup and COVID, we continue to look at our operation to make it more efficient, while being responsive to changes in the marketing of our products. Currently, paid positions are available in addition to volunteers. Apprentices can start as early as April or May and continue through the summer and fall.
